Mission Statement

DeafPhoenix advocates for a safe and empowering diverse community of Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing individuals by providing culturally accessible and trauma informed resources to end violence and promote healing for survivors and co-survivors.

Note: DeafPhoenix honors crime victim’s right to self-identify as Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Deaf Persons of Color, Hard of Hearing, Children of Deaf Adults (CODA), and Kids of Deaf Adults (KODA) within Ohio’s Deaf communities. In respect to Deaf communities with intersectionalities and lived experiences, this is not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of crime victims with specific categories of cultural identification. DeafPhoenix recognizes the importance of honoring the lived experiences and multiple identities of those who access our customized advocacy, training/technical assistance, and related crime victim services by culturally competent advocates with degrees, licensure, and certification.
